THE LAST REFLECTION – GOODBYE

THE LAST REFLECTION - GOODBYE

At the begining of the lesson actually I didn’t want to attend this course. There were a lot of tasks so I was afraid of this lesson. I was worried about this lesson because I think this course was boring and I am not good at using computer programs. I thougt that we would learn Microsoft Powerpoint, Word, Excell etc. again. That programs are very boring despite they are beneficial. In addition to this we are studying for KPSS exam and we have limited time for some extra (a lot of) activities. So I thougt that this term would be difficult for us.Actually, I am not good at computer using I knew some programs that we will learn this term.
As the tme passed my impressions are about the lesson is changed. I think this course is very beneficial for us. I have learnt much about this lesson. We have learnt a lot of useful programs on the internet like facebook, twitter, MSN, prezi etc. I learned how to use them effectively.I have a lot of accounts on the internet. We are in technology age. We spend most of our time on the internet. I think, we teachers must be equipped with effective using of computer. As a teacher we should use the technology in the class while we are teaching. As we are at the end of the term, my thoughts have changed much.I h I am sad about we finished we don’t have any lesson. But I am happy now I have learned much things and I can use it effectively. Thanks to the this course I will teach and use the internet effectively. I wish I had learned this course on first year of university.
Thank you very much for your patience teacher…

week 11 podcasting

This week’s topic is Podcasting. This week is also very entertaining week. I like Podcasts and also I usually listen Podcasts. I usually listen my favourite dj Arif Güven’s podcasts’. I want to mention about what is podcasting and why should we use them? Podcasting is a wonderful way of allowing children to share their work and experiences with a potentially huge audience over the Internet. Schools are increasingly using the internet to promote what they do, and to celebrate the achievements of their children, and podcasting is an excellent way of doing this. A podcast is like a radio show. However, instead of being broadcast live, a podcast is recorded and then distributed over the internet, so that you can listen to it whenever you please. There are thousands of podcasts available, ranging from general interest entertainment shows to those which focus on specific topics (e.g. computers / music / education).

How do children benefit from making a podcast?
• It gives them a potential audience of thousands for their work.
• It’s great for developing literacy skills (writing scripts, setting up interviews etc), allows children to develop and practise their speaking and listening skills, and they also learn some amazing ICT skills.
• Podcasts can be interactive, and the audience can be invited to send their comments, giving valuable feedback to the children about their work.
• I’ve found that making a podcast is also great for developing teamwork skills. The children always work together really well, as they’re always keen to make a great show.
Audioboo is a website (and an application for Android, iPhone OS and Symbian) which allows users to post and share sound files. You can record or post your voice. Audiobooks have traditionally been used in schools by teachers of second-language learners, learning-disabled or -impaired students, and struggling readers or nonreaders. In many cases, audiobooks have proven successful in providing a way for these students to access literature and enjoy books. But they have not been widely used with average, avid, or gifted readers.
Finally,I love listening to audiobooks. I will use it to improve my English and use it in the classroom.

SECOND LIFE – WEEK 12

SECOND LIFE - WEEK 12

This week we have two topics. That are second life and weebly. This is our last lesson and we learned these topics. I think this topics are really interesting. Especially weebly is more interesting to me. Second life reminds me Gerard Butler’s film that is Gamer. It is the same Second life. The master controls the players what to do.They obey the commands of their masters This film represents a good science-fiction. Second life is a an online virtual world game. It enable Second Life users, to interact with each other through avatars Also called Residents. Residents can explore the world (known as the grid), meet other residents, socialize, participate in individual and group activities, and create and trade virtual property and services with one another. Second Life is intended for people aged 16 and over. Second Life is used as a platform for education by many institutions, such as colleges, universities, libraries and government entities. Besides, reportedly some professors teaching business and management in the US assign homework to create a basic account of Second Life and get acquainted with it in order to learn the business model in the virtual reality. This game is really good for language learmning. I want to use it in the future. I think this game will become the most played games in the future.
Webbly is a website creator. You can use it for any purpose. You can create a website. I think it is very easy tool for using website. We can use it in language learning. Our final Project is about weebly. I want to learn weebly as soon as possible. And I want it to use in the future.

Story Telling & Story Jumper

Story Telling & Story Jumper

This week our topic is Digital Storytelling and storyjumper. This week we got tired of a lot of tasks but I admit that this week’s topic is really interesting and funny. I actually confess that this weeks’ tasks are a bit tiring but that are beneficial to students. Thanks to the storyjumper and other storytelling activities students can learn English entertainingly. As we know stories are very good equipment to young learners. Stories also attract students attention easily. I use stories when starting to lesson. Because students likes stories very much and this is good and esasiness for me to teach English inside the story. As we are in technology age stories are told by computers or on the videos. Grandmothers or grandfathers are not telling stories now. Because there is an internet connection everywhere and you can find a lot of stories on the internet. As we are new generation English teachers we have to learn how to use story telling in the clasroom. There are numbers of ways in which storytelling can enhance intercultural understanding and communication. Stories can…
• allow children to explore their own cultural roots
• allow children to experience diverse cultures
• enable children to empathise with unfamiliar people/places/situations
• offer insights into different traditions and values
• help children understand how wisdom is common to all peoples/all cultures
• offer insights into universal life experiences
• help children consider new ideas
• reveal differences and commonalties of cultures around the World
As you see stories are beneficial for students’ intellectual development. That’s why we use story telling in the classroom. We can use story telling a lot of ways but I want to mention that weeks topic. You can use moviemaker programme. This programme is very beneficial. You can find it difficult when you are preparing the story. But it is visual and auditory. This makes it very good tool for storytelling. You can make movies by using pictures and write the sentences on the video and record your sound easily. You can also use musics for this programme.
The other programme is storyjumper. StoryJumper is a site that gives parents, kids, and authors a fun set of intuitive tools for writing and illustrating kids stories. Their goal is to inspire anyone that’s ever wanted to write a kids story. Storyjumper is free to use, and gives everyone access to our basic art libraries for story creation, online sharing, and book publishing. You can order your books as professionally published hardbound volumes starting from $24.95.
Finally,Young Learners share a remarkable variety of personal experiences, values and ways of understanding. The language they learn in the classroom is the tool they use to shape their thoughts and feelings. It is more than a way of exchanging information and extending ideas, it is their means of reaching out and connecting with other people. Stories can link not only between the world of classroom and home but also between the classroom and beyond. Stories provide a common thread that can help unite cultures and provide a bridge across the cultural gap. You can learn this tools when you are teaching. It is beneficial and entertaining!

Learning Through Social Networks ( facebook & twitter )

Learning Through Social Networks ( facebook & twitter )

This week I wasn’t attend the class. But I want to talk about something about social networks.69% of learners around the world said that they learned most effectively when socialising informally
This result suggests that a lot of students learn best from their friends and family. Perhaps that isn’t so surprising. The things we learn from our loved ones are often more immediately relevant to our lives than what we learn from a teacher in a classroom. Also, when we are relaxed (such as when we are at home or in a café), then we are more open to suggestions and new ideas.Does that mean teachers should start taking their students to cafés more? No, of course not. However, a lot of teachers take their students outside of the classroom once a term to try and create a different experience, atmosphere and dynamic for their teaching and learning. Students can learn any language from social networks. There are a lot of of social networks that you can learn new language. Facebook and Twitter are the most popular social networks all around the world. Millions of people uses them. Students can talk with strangers and they can improve their knowledge. There are a lot of things you can do in this websites. You join language learning groups. They are free for everyone. There are lot of groups you can join. Facebook has more feature than twitter. You can use it. You can do a lot of things from facebook. You can talk with strangers on a web cam, you can create groups. you can play games, you can upload limitless files. You can type with strangers, meet with frieds. You can ask questions to an expert. There are a lot of things you can do while teaching through social networks. It is easy and also it is free for everyone.
